The Cove School is joining millions worldwide for the International Walk and Roll to School Day! Safe Routes to School has organized ways for everyone to participate- whether you live close or far!
Bike, Scoot or Walk from the neighborhood.
Bike train from Larkspur- meet Mrs. Walker and parent volunteer Megan B for the bike train at the footbridge behind Redwood (near Andrew’s Camp) at 7:35am.
Park and Walk! Live far away? You can park in the neighborhood and walk 3-4 blocks. This still counts as a green route to school. See map here for ideas.
Try the bus!
Cove’s Safe Route parent leaders- Tom N, Rob M, and Greg U- will host welcome tables in the courtyard on the morning of Wednesday, October 10th to greet children as they arrive to school. Children who travel to school via foot, bike, scooter or bus are eligible to enter theraffle for a new scooter sponsored by Safe Routes to School.
The Cove School Fall Picnic Don’t Miss the Fun! There will be activities led by Steve & Kate’s Camp, Face Painting, Family Fitness, Live Drumming and more! Dinner by the delicious Marin Pizza Company for sale. Come in costume! Wednesday, October 10th, 5:00pm-7:00pm. To RSVP click here.
October is Zero Waste Challenge Month! Please send snacks and lunch items that are either zero waste (like fresh fruit) or that come from something that was packaged in bulk. We'd love to see a drastic reduction in single-use plastic in our school community this week!
2018-2019 Cove Site Council Members
Cove Site Council Is the governing board of our school and works to promote clear communication and collaboration within our community, as well as manage the Cove’s long-term strategic plan and lead “special projects” that enhance The Cove School. The Site Council is comprised of a mix of Cove staff team members and parents. This year, our members as pictured here include Principal Michelle Walker, three teachers- Lisa Capobianco, Jane Osterman, and Julia McKee, two staff members – Cathleen Acheritogaray and Karen Reisch along with five parents – Yousuf Dalal, David Frankenburg, Michele Hansen, Lisa Hielscher, and Victor Valencia. 2018-2019 Cove School Yearbook Cover Design Contest This year's theme is: "Reach for the Stars.” Cover contest is open to all 5th-grade students who will receive official rules in their classrooms this week. Winning entry will appear on the yearbook cover and winner will receive a free yearbook. All entries due in the designated box located in the school office by 3pm on Friday, October 26th. Voting will take place at lunchtime on Friday, November 2nd. Winning entry announced in June. Questions? Email Emily Kanter.
Cove Book Fair The Book Fair is back from Monday, October 15th - Friday, October 19th. Come browse some of the latest and most popular books supplied by our wonderful partner Book Passage. Shop early for the holidays, birthdays, and just for your own enjoyment. The Library would love volunteers to help with this favorite event. Stop by the library to sign up for a shift or two.
Lunchtime Help Needed! We are looking for volunteers to help in the lunchroom, supervise our children on the courtyard, and to support our Green Team. Help is needed 12:30pm-1:30pm, Monday through Friday (you can pick a day per week). Contactpresident@pto.org if interested.
Swag Sale! Join us at the upcoming Family Picnic night on Wednesday, October 10th, and grab some Cove Swag for $10! It’s our 10/10/$10 swag sale!

Lost and Found: Help Wanted! We are looking for a few parents to help organize and manage the Lost and Found department. You would be amazed at the amount of items our children misplace! Please contact president@covepto.org if interested.
Cove Holiday Store We will begin collecting items in November so now is the perfect time to do some Fall cleaning and set aside those no longer loved treasures. Suggestions for items include: books, scarves, costume jewelry, office accessories, household decor, men’s item etc. We are excited to continue this beloved tradition at our school and hope you can help out by donating! Giving Tuesday is November 27th Join us in this annual worldwide holiday dedicated to giving back and celebrating generosity. We’re launching a #GivingTuesday Participation Challenge. Help us get to 50% participation with your donation or pledge by November 27th! We’ve got prizes and giveaways and lots of fun things planned. Stay tuned.
Parent Hosted Party Dad's Night Out is Friday, November 2nd Do you like funny movies? Are you a Dad? Then join us for the annual Dad's Movie Night extravaganza on Friday, November 2nd at the American Legion Hall in downtown Larkspur. As well as screening a classic comedy, festivities will include dinner, drinks, prizes and pub games. Come support SPARK while having a great time with fellow dads and local legends.
