Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful winter break. I am excited to see all of your children tomorrow morning!
Arrive on Time for School! Has your morning routine been creeping back, taking longer? It’s time to readjust and commit to being on time!
Our school day STARTS at 8:14 on the blacktop. That means your child needs to be at school by 8:10 in order to drop their backpack off and be on the blacktop ready to go at 8:14. Missing a few minutes of Cove in Motion (CIM) is not okay.
Your child is marked tardy if they are not here and ready to go from the start of CIM. As a school, we are working to improve our documentation and notification of tardies. Effective now, we have implemented an 8:14am bell in addition to our 8:12 warning bell (they have different tones). Additionally, we have people posted at the entrances to the blacktop, recording names of students who arrive after 8:14. Those lists are logged in our student information system each morning. In December, we notified families of students who had 3 or more unexcused tardies in the past month.
Please adjust your morning routines accordingly and do whatever it takes to be here on time. Please help your children instill this important skill that will help them for life. Thank you for your commitment and support on behalf of the kids!
*BUS: We have worked with the bus to ensure that it arrives on time. Students who ride the bus are not marked tardy when the bus arrives late. However, students still need to transition from the bus to the blacktop in a timely fashion in order to be on time each day.
Sincerely,
Michelle Walker, Principal
Hot Lunch Reminder: Order lunch online for January at www.thelunchmaster.com. Please be sure your student has a lunch ordered for Monday and the rest of the month of January. Cove has changed to a limited menu served buffet style on reusable metal trays with reusable forks. LCM is working as efficiently as possible to reduce waste at all our schools and we are starting at Cove.
