LCMSD will lose $116,000 due to attendance rate. Yes, you are reading that correctly. We have received our recalculated LCFF funding based on our Average Daily Attendance (ADA), which is currently at 96%. Parents have been asking what they can do to assist with budget challenges that we (and most CA districts) are facing. Here are the top four:
Donate to SPARK.
Donate to our PTO.
Pat yourself on the back when you pay your parcel tax this Spring.
Send your child to school. For each day that a student is absent, LCMSD loses approximately $45. Districts receive funding based on actual days of attendance, so not only does consistent school attendance greatly benefit students (increased attendance = higher achievement), it also strengthens our budget. Please keep your children at home when sick; however, if you need to take your student out of school for another reason, please reconsider as it can lead to gaps in learning and results in less funding for our schools. To learn more about the importance of attendance watch this 1-minute video.
Parking Lot Safety- The Cove parking lot has become a safety hazard. During drop off and pick up times, cars are blocking essential access points. Staff and the bus have been blocked entering and exiting. If there were an emergency, there would be no way for emergency vehicles to enter our campus. We do not want to prevent you from using the loop, however, we need you to respect our boundaries. If you are using the drop off or pick up loop, please do not turn off your engine or exit your vehicle. The drop off and pick up lane is the lane next to the curb closest to the front of the building. Do not use the lane next to this lane or the lane in between the parked cars for drop off or pick up. You should not spend more than 1 minute in the loop; it must be fluid. If your child is not outside and ready, please circle around to allow the next vehicle to enter the loop. Thank you for your cooperation.
