Budget Town Hall Meetings: Monday, March 4th 6:00pm-7:00pm Cove School and Tuesday, March 5th 8:30am-9:30am at Hall Middle School. We understand that additional questions and concerns have risen since our staff and parent meetings on the reductions. We want to hear your feedback, address concerns, and answer questions, please plan to attend. Since Board Meetings (such as the one scheduled on March 6th) aren't a discussion with the public, but rather a meeting of the Board held in public, Trustees and the Superintendent cannot respond to public comments. This makes the process awkward and can leave speakers feeling unheard. If you have remaining questions/concerns, we hope you can join us. Here is more information regarding budget reductions.
At the February 13th Meeting, Trustees approved a resolution for certificated reductions/layoffs. Additionally, Principal Saibel provided an update on Hall Middle School's transition to standards-based grading.
At the March 6th Meeting, Trustees will be voting on a resolution for classified reductions/layoffs, and the 2nd interim budget.
LCMSD will lose $116,000 due to attendance rate. Yes, you are reading that correctly. We have received our recalculated LCFF funding based on our Average Daily Attendance (ADA), which is currently at 96%. Parents have been asking what they can do to assist with budget challenges that we (and most CA districts) are facing. Here are the top four:

Send your child to school. For each day that a student is absent, LCMSD loses approximately $45. Districts receive funding based on actual days of attendance, so not only does consistent school attendance greatly benefit students (increased attendance = higher achievement), it also strengthens our budget. Please keep your children at home when sick; however, if you need to take your student out of school for another reason, please reconsider as it can lead to gaps in learning and results in less funding for our schools. To learn more about the importance of attendance watch this 1-minute video.
