Open House will give you a deeper look into what your children have been learning and how they have been learning it- through your child’s eyes. Your child is your guide.
Our Guiding Principles come to life at Open House:
#1 Experiential Learning- What hands-on, inquiry-based learning has your child engaged in? Classrooms will feature projects they have been exploring, examples of the iterative learning process (drafts, revisions), and the products of their efforts. We aim to highlight the process of learning, not just the end products.
#2 Social-Emotional Growth- How does your child practice being mindful, effectively participating in a group, proactive self-regulation and taking risks?
#3 Creativity- How does your child think outside the box, explore multiple solutions to problems, or share their learning in unique ways? At Open House you will get to see the arts in action:
7:15 performance by our 5th-grade band
Art displays in the Gallery from Ms. McKee’s art classes
#4 Community- Take the chance to deepen community connections with your children’s classmates and teachers.
This is an event for the whole family!
Sincerely,
Michelle Walker, Principal
Tinker Day 2019 - A Success! See photos here. Rain couldn’t keep our Cove Tinkers and Makers at bay -- such a terrific day of learning by making and experimenting. A huge “Thank You” to our Tinker Day co-chairs, teacher Amanda Estes and parent Christopher Slowe and to our many helpers! I also want to express my deep gratitude for SPARK for the funding to make Tinker Maker Day possible. It’s because of SPARK and families like you who provided financial support, that we could hold this special event and further our signature practice of Tinkering/Making.
2019 Cove Yearbooks now ON SALE! Yearbooks will be on sale until Friday, April 13th (Friday of Spring Break) for $25. Order forms are available in the office or click here to order online. Yearbooks will be sent home with students the last week of school. Look for order forms in your child's backpack folder.
1:15 Early Dismissal on Friday, April 5th!
Walk & Roll Wednesday & Raffle, April 3rd! Weather permitting, Safe Routes will host a welcome table to hand out Safe Routes swag along with entry tickets for our next ice cream raffle! Children who travel a "green way" to school via foot, bike, scooter or bus are eligible to enter the raffle for Mag's gift cards. If you live at a greater distance, parking your car 1/4 mile from campus and walking with your child from there counts as a green route to school!
From the Art Room The art room is still accepting paper towel rolls and newspaper if you have any to donate. No more cardboard donations are needed for now. Thank you for support, Ms. McKee.
Parent Survey- Here is the 2019 LCAP PARENT SURVEY LINK (open until April 5). It should not take more than 10 minutes. In an effort to gather input on how we are doing, our district is providing surveys to our students, parents, and staff. It will play a large role in evaluating progress toward our goals for the 2018-19 school year. It also gives us critical feedback as we develop and revise our district’s Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP), including new goals for the 2019-20 year. Please go to our website if you would like more information about the LCAP. Thank you for your participation and for your input.
