Last Day of School, 1:15pm - Early Dismissal Thursday, June 13th
Dear Families,
As another year comes to a close, so many wonderful things are happening including: 4th and 5th-grade music concerts, class plays, ukelele performance, Golden Bell educator awards ceremony, Board of Trustees recognized retirees, our school recognizing our Green Team Queen, our school recognizing Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year and more!
We are looking forward to the upcoming Hairspray Junior performance (June 6) and 5th-grade culmination (June 12).
Celebrating our Retirees at LCMSD Board of Trustees Meeting
Green Team Queen, Mrs. Meunier!
Golden Bell Recipients, Ms. Erielle and Ms. Martinez
Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year, Fred
Boys and Girls Club Youths of the Month!
Staffing Update: I also want to share an important staffing update.
Ms. Kristie Martinez has been selected as our district literacy and English Learner specialist for next year. She is very excited to be taking on this leadership role, and we are fortunate to continue to benefit from her expertise at Cove. Ms. Kristin Hancock has also decided to take a leap and move to 3rd grade! She previously taught 3rd grade (among other older grades) and loves that age. We sure will miss them both in their roles as our first-grade collaborative teaching team, and yet they are both off to wonderful new adventures to benefit our students in their new roles!
Ms. Dakota Long will be teaching 1st-grade next year (this is also what she is teaching at her current school) and Ms. Anastasia Robbins will be teaching 2nd-grade next year.
Ms. Leah Gallagher (expecting a baby this summer) will be taking a year of family leave next school year. The K/1 class will be taught by Ms. Jane Osterman and Ms. Lucia Cortright next year.
And, we are in the process of hiring another rock star to join our 1st-grade team!
Sincerely,
Michelle Walker, Principal

Derby Den Ukulele Performance
This past Friday Ms. Derby's Ukulele class performed a lunchtime concert. Such Cove talent! Bravo!

For the June 6th Meeting Trustees will vote on the 2019-20 Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) and budget. Interviews for the Trustee vacancy will take place with a possible appointment.
