Cove in Motion! Starting Tuesday, September 3rd, we will begin a favorite school routine- Cove in Motion! Our school whole-heartedly embraces the idea that exercise and improved cognitive performance go hand in hand. As such, we have decided to dedicate 16 minutes each morning to exercising to fun and inspiring music as a group! Here is some more information for those of you who are new to Cove in Motion.
Cove in Motion will be Monday- Wednesday each week. On Thursdays, students will meet their teachers and come to the gallery for an assembly each week. On Fridays, students meet their teachers in the classroom and teachers will do a morning movement routine with their class.
Important Procedures We are calling on you to help keep Cove in Motion running smoothly.
Arrive by 8:10am and have your child drop their backpack off outside their classroom and then meet us on the blacktop by 8:14am sharp!
Early arrivers should head out to the track and WALK around the track. Please do not linger in the Cove Courtyard. Once the track music starts (8:05), playground play ends. Parents, please help by joining us in walking around the track and encouraging the kids around you to walk.
Parent Participation Expectation: If you are on the blacktop during CIM, please join us in the exercise program along the sides and back of the classes. Do not stand in front on the side of the stage area. If you are not going to participate, we ask that you leave the playground.
Students who arrive after CIM starts will be marked tardy. They will be missing out on very important, fun and beneficial part of their instructional day.
CIM Expectations: Bodies forward, participate/ try, follow the leader.
Thank you for your support. And, thank you to Coach Arroyo for being our fearless CIM coordinator.
Let’s keep moving together!
Sincerely,
Michelle Walker, Principal
And the Cove in Motion Team
Back to School Night We are looking forward to seeing you at school on Thursday evening, September 5! This is an adult-only event. Your child’s teacher will be talking about the grade level curriculum and instruction, classroom procedures and volunteer opportunities. You will have a special opportunity to hear Cove’s inspiring architect Mark Quattrocchi and Principal Walker as they share the story of Cove’s beginning during our general session for all parents in the gallery at 6:30pm.
Schedule:
5:15-5:45 English Learners Families Welcome & Information Session in the Library (Un sesión de bienvenidos para las familias de aprendizos de Inglés en la biblioteca)

NOTE: We are staggering the schedule for the evening to accommodate families with children in multiple classrooms. This event begins at 6:30pm for anyone who does not have a kindergartner or 1st grader! There is a gap in the schedule (7:00-7:40) for anyone who doesn’t have a 2nd or 3rd grader. During this time, we invite you to socialize in the gallery and courtyard. In the past, we have had specialist teachers (art, PE, music, library) present during this time, but it has been sparsely attended so we are working out a different way for them to share their programs with our school community!
