The Beloved Cove Holiday Store tradition returns to the Cove on Friday, December 13th! Prepare to be delighted by the gifts chosen for you by your children from the new and gently-used “inventory” donated by the Cove community. Please mark your calendars, and thank you in advance for helping to bring this much-loved experience to life!
Donations of no longer-loved items and gift wrapping supplies can be dropped off in the Cove Gallery across from the library. Treasures in high demand include costume jewelry and women’s accessories, holiday-themed decor, housewares, cookbooks, DVDs, and anything for men! Wrapping paper, gift bags and boxes, tissue paper, tags, bows and tape will also be needed in great supply. We cannot take used clothing or new clothing without tags, dirty or broken items, toys, or stuffed animals.
Volunteer shifts will be posted soon for store set-up on Thursday, December 12th and for shopping assistants and gift wrappers for Friday, December 13th.
Please send $2 with your child to school on Friday, December 15; s/he will have the chance to “shop” with their class in the “store” for two gifts—each $1—for two special adults in their lives. Proceeds will support the Cove PTO’s programs and services. No child will be turned away from shopping for lack of funds.
The Cove Holiday store will be open to the public from 3-4pm on Friday, December 13th- Come treasure hunting if you are able!
Our Special Turkey Trot Tradition was a huge success. Thank you, Coach Arroyo! The energy was palpable as students, teachers and parents cheered on the runners! I loved seeing all of the effort that each and every participant invested. I am also grateful for all of the 5th-grade leaders who helped run the event. Their kindness and willingness to help in whatever capacity was needed (even running alongside younger runners in their races) was heartwarming.
Hot Lunch Orders for December Reminder to order hot lunches (LunchMaster) for the month of December!
Lost and Found Reminder to label your child’s items, especially jackets they take off midday! This helps ensure lost items are returned. You can create clothing labels at Mabel's Labels. Use this link and your purchase will help raise money for the PTO!
Coaches Needed for Girls on the Run at The Cove Girls on the Run builds healthy, confident girls. We are actively recruiting volunteer mentors for our spring season starting in February. No prior experience is necessary; we provide the training, curriculum and materials. No need to be a runner, or even consider yourself athletic to become a coach! All you need is the desire to be a positive role model for a small team of 15 girls.
This 10-week program promotes holistic health outcomes. One or 2 co-coaches lead each practice, consisting of a movement-based lesson, games, and a running workout, all from the nationally-recognized Girls on the Run curriculum. Girls on the Run is one of only 3 programs recognized by the Harvard Graduate School of Education as a top social-emotional learning (SEL) experience for kids. View a video of the program in action!
