Class Placement for 2020-2021 Given our current reality and the many unknowns about how we will be starting the new school year in August, our class placement will be more complex than ever this year.
We consider multiple factors when designing class groups. We typically look at gender, learning styles, learning needs, friendships, and level of independence among many other variables throughout the placement process. This year, we also need to consider many other factors to keep health and safety as the top priority for students and staff.
Some parents have asked if we will be accepting letters or input from parents. Depending on our model (distance-learning, in-person learning at school, or a hybrid of the two), we might need to get specific information from you related to childcare and other factors. If we do, we will survey all families to collect this information.
In the meantime, only if there are extenuating circumstances or factors that are unique to your child as a learner please be sure to communicate these (in writing/email), to your child’s teacher. Please remember that your teacher knows your child very well, and only needs information that they do not already know (ie. a need to be separated from someone in another class). We will not honor requests for a specific teacher, so please, do not ask.
We take this job of placing your child in the right class very seriously. Thank you for respecting our process.
Sincerely,
Michelle Walker

PTO UPDATES
Thank You to Our Many Volunteers! A round of applause and a cheer for all our amazing and dedicated Classroom Coordinators, Holiday Store Helpers, Readathon volunteers, Field Trip Drivers, Picture Day helpers, Classroom helpers, Coyote mascot costume wearers… Everyone who makes our school sing! We salute and thank you for all you have done this year!
Fundraising Update: With four weeks left to go in the school year, we wanted to share some information: Annual Giving boasts a record-breaking year with 73% participation from current families which has raised just over $1M and Online Auction brought in $100K with Virtual Spring Spotlight raising $85K with donations from 121 families. Even with these fundraising milestones, we are $180K shy of our $1.5M goal. Not meeting our fundraising goal has financial consequences and may result in SPARK significantly reducing its commitment for the 2020-2021 school year. As a result, we are making an impassioned plea to every family who is able to step up during this time. Here’s how you can help:
Make a donation to support our schools. Any amount counts!
Increase your donation with Corporate Match. If you made a recent donation this year through Annual Giving or the recent Paddle Raise, check if your company participates here.
