Gratitude - During our first full week, I had the pleasure of visiting each class’s Back to School Night. I can feel the classroom communities forming already. I am filled with gratitude for our teachers, staff, parents, and students. We have such an amazing community!
It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces in the assembly on Friday. At the end, I shared a video of the first-day pictures and the appreciations that our Cove Coyotes sent to me through the google form last week. Gratitude is such an important practice as we wade through challenging times together. Our Coyotes are a grateful bunch!
One of Cove’s Guiding Principles is CREATIVITY! Thank you for your generous donations to SPARK that help fund art and music, both of which directly foster the creativity we value so much! Check out the lessons and links to live Zoom Sessions on our Cove Specialists Website. Be sure to check out the Cove Virtual Music Room, too! Please help us reach our SPARK $1.5M goal this year with your 2020-2021 Annual Giving donation.
5G Expanded Learning and Cove- There have been some questions in our community about the 5G program (not the cell phone network) happening at Cove during school hours. While we cannot open school yet, childcare programs are allowed to be open. 5G has been Cove’s after school enrichment program provider, and when COVID began, they quickly pivoted to assist families in a new way. Their founder/president/CEO, Mike Galea, has worked closely with Marin County and our district to ensure that his program is meeting a community need while following all regulations for health and safety. We currently have 4 cohorts of students attending 5G at Cove. Thank you Mike and team for helping out our Cove community.
Attendance/ Absence Reporting: Even though we're in distance learning mode, attendance is still very important. Please make sure students log into zoom classes on time. If your child cannot attend virtual classes for any reason, please email coveabsentee@lcmschools.org.
From the Cove Library Although our school library is closed to students and parents during distance learning, students may request up to five books by using the catalog system found on the Cove library webpage.
Grades 3 - 5 may request books by placing books on hold in the catalog system,
Grades K - 2 may request books by placing books on hold in the catalog system or emailing the library staff a request at covelibrarystaff@lcmschools.org.
The library staff will reply to emails with pickup instructions when books are ready for pickup. Books may be returned by leaving them in the library book return box on Fridays from 8am - 4pm, in front of the Cove main entrance.
If your child has library books from last school year at home, please return them. We are still missing many books!
Important Lunch Information LunchMaster has a deadline of 10am Tuesday prior to the Monday pickup. You need to order your lunches a week before the pickup date. Go to www.thelunchmaster.com to order. LunchMaster will not send any extra lunches, so please have orders in on time. Labor Day lunch pick up will be on Tuesday, September 8th, Cove 12:15pm-1:00pm. You will receive 5 days of lunch.
Please visit the Lunch & Nutrition section on our website's Covid 19 Plan for current information on our Lunch Program.
Friday Materials Pick Up If your teacher has notified you of materials to be picked up on the front sidewalk please note the new pickup window. The pick up window for Fridays is now 8am to 4pm. It came to our attention that parents are often busy supporting children at home in mornings and need an extended period of time for picking up materials.
A Hearty Thank You goes to our PTO Technical VP, Chris Slowe for all his behind the scenes work and to Lisa Shields for rocking our first week of Cove in Motion! I hope everyone had a terrific first full week of school and is getting settled into new rhythms of remote learning. If you have any questions or just want to send a hello, email our Cove PTO President, Kristen Slowe at president@covepto.org.
