Reading Routine- Helping Your Child Build Reading Stamina
Life is busy – that’s a fact. Fitting even twenty minutes into an already packed schedule might feel impossible, but these twenty minutes a day will have a lasting, compounded, positive academic impact on your child. It is never too early to start a reading routine at home with your child. No matter where they are along the continuum of reading development, establishing a consistent practice routine at home shows the value your family places on literacy! Check out this article that is packed with research and tips to help set up a successful home reading routine: Does Reading 20 Minutes At Home Really Matter? written by Kristie Martinez, LCMSD EL/ Literacy Specialist
Valentine’s Day 2021 #COVIDStyle
Many classes will be celebrating Valentine’s Day on Friday, February 12th. This year, we cannot allow students to bring Valentine cards from home to distribute to their classmates at school. Such a bummer, I know! Some families may choose to do electronic Valentine cards for classmates. Teachers will be brainstorming and sharing ideas for class Valentine activities that do not involve passing out cards or food or parent volunteers. Please look for information from your child’s teacher about how they will be celebrating Valentine’s Day!
