Dear Families,
We are off and running! What an amazing first week. My highlight was definitely our whole school opening assembly on Friday morning. It was a special moment for all of us, as it had been 18 months since we have had our whole student body together. We welcomed our newest coyotes (new students in grades 1-5, kindergartners and new staff members) and had some fun moving and playing “Just Like Me” together. Kids are thrilled that recess no longer has zones (yes, they can play whatever they want to play) and that lunch time is only zoned by grade level, not by class. Exciting times at Cove!
See below for important information about volunteering at lunch time. Please consider helping out- it’s for the kids!
Sincerely,
Michelle Walker
We need volunteer help with lunch to help everything run smoothly!
Interested? Here are the details:
Volunteers must be vaccinated and must show proof in the front office before they may start their first shift.
Volunteers will need to sign-up for a minimum of one day per week and commit to that day from now through December 17. You may find someone to share a shift with you if you want.
If you cannot make one of your shifts, you will need to arrange for your own substitute - we will provide you with a contact list.
Parent volunteer training is scheduled for Thursday, Aug 26 at 10:00am via Zoom. (Meeting ID: 671 700 3543; Passcode: Cove)
Volunteers will start as soon as tomorrow. Those who volunteer before the training will be trained on the spot!
If you cannot commit to one day per week, you can sign up for our substitute list by emailing covesecretaries@lcmschools.org with subject line Lunch Volunteer Substitute and the days of the week you are available to contact. If you sign up as a substitute, your phone number and email address will be available to other volunteers.
When signing up, remember to scroll to the bottom of the page and click “submit”

Back to School Night A typical Back to School Night is in the forecast! With that, please know teacher presentations will only be held in person (no Zoom or recordings). If you cannot attend, teachers will send you materials covered that evening. We hope to see you on August 26, 2021 at Hall and September 2, 2021 at The Cove.
Why masks? Please take a few minutes to watch this Marin COVID-19 Status Update: Masks in Schools (August 20, 2021). This video has been prepared to assist our community in understanding the critical importance of wearing masks.
Calendars Be sure to keep up to date with school and district events by syncing our calendars onto your calendar! Please note- school vacations, holidays, etc are listed only on the district calendar so as not to duplicate! Calendar Personalization Info Here (Notice the icons that also show how to get ical feed, etc.)

Thank you to everyone who attended our Welcome Coffee. It was wonderful to see so many faces- it was one of highest attended coffees to date. Masks nor smokey haze can keep our community apart! If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our PTO email President Kristen Slowe at president@covepto.org
Classroom Coordinators Wanted Every class needs at least two classroom coordinators to act as a liaison between parents and their teacher. This is an integral role! If interested, please email Elisa Cullen at emagscullen@gmail.com for more information. A Classroom Coordinator meeting will be held on the evening August 30 via zoom. Zoom link will only be sent to those signed up as a CC.
Did You Know? As the non-profit fundraising organization that supports programs that would otherwise be cut at our schools (music, art, technology, and wellness), SPARK depends on generous contributions from district families. Money raised this year funds programs and materials for this school year. We ask that every single family support SPARK with a donation each year. There are many ways to donate - online with a one-time payment, monthly installments, pledge now and pay later, with a gift of stock and utilizing corporate match. Learn more about SPARK here.
SPARK Needs You We have many jobs big and small for parents to help this year. We’re especially looking for SPARK reps. Email info@SPARKschools.org if interested and learn more here.
