Dear Families,
Farewells and Welcomes: With the end of the year fast approaching, we have some staff members who will be moving on to new adventures and some new people that we will be welcoming to our Cove family!
Beth Hawkins has taken a new position as our LCMSD Math intervention specialist and coach. She has been a leader in teaching math, and this is a great next step for her. We will miss having her as a classroom teacher. We will still have her at Cove on a regular basis, just in a new role. Our students and staff alike will benefit from her expertise. Please join me in wishing her well in this next adventure!
Kathy Taylor has decided to make a switch to teaching PE at Hall next year. Prior to coming to Cove, she has many years of experience teaching PE. She is very happy to return to this role and cannot wait to see our Cove Coyotes when they get to Hall. Please join me in wishing her well in this next adventure!
Kristin Hancock has taken a new position in San Rafael School District as an instructional coach. She has been an exceptional part of our team, and we will miss her so much. I am so happy for her to take this next step in her career. Please join me in wishing her well in this next adventure!
Please join me in welcoming Chelsea Griffin to our Cove 2nd grade team. She is currently teaching 4th grade at Neil Cummins and she is the LCMSD Summer School co-principal. She has a love of 2nd grade and cannot wait to get back to teaching 2nd grade!
Please take the time and say farewell to those who are leaving us and wish them well in their new adventures. Be on the lookout for new faces in the Fall, as we look forward to welcoming new staff to our team of dedicated and passionate educators.
Sincerely,
Michelle Walker, Principal

Measure E - The Larkspur-Corte Madera Board of Trustees placed Measure E on the June 7, 2022 ballot. The measure would renew the existing parcel tax at current rates over a ten year term. This parcel tax generates approximately $4 million in annual funding for The Cove School, Neil Cummins Elementary and Hall Middle School and allows for senior exemptions. For more information on Measure E please review the County of Marin Voter Information Guide.
LCMSD is hosting Summer School this year! The goals for the program are to help students build an understanding of the essential grade level standards, set the tone for a successful upcoming school year, and provide additional support to narrow the equity gap for student groups. Each year students are identified as candidates using multiple data points, including Fountas and Pinnell Reading Scores, CAASPP Scores, and benchmark assessments. Teacher input is also included in the candidate selection process. Invitations have been sent out to all potential candidates via paper form and email. Summer School will be held at Neil Cummins from June 20-July 15th (July 4th is a holiday) for a half day from 8:15 - 11:30 am.
