Coyote Paws
I am excited to share that we will be starting up Coyote Paws this week! Coyote Paws are a school wide positive reinforcement system for students who go above and beyond to help our community.
How do students earn Coyote Paws?
By going above and beyond in a certain school rule: Show Respect, Make Good Decisions, Solve Problems or Keep Cove Safe.
What happens when a student earns a Coyote Paw?
They will get their picture taken and projected onto the monitor in the gallery! And, after the weekly assemblies, all students who earned a Coyote Paw that week will get their picture taken as a group at the coyote mural.
The hard part about school wide systems is that everyone won’t earn a coyote paw each week…and that can be frustrating for students. We (the entire Cove staff team) will be looking for good choices to positively reinforce. If your child doesn’t get one in the first few weeks, please help encourage them to keep making good choices and they will be recognized in time.
Coyote Paws are a great way for students to understand our Guiding Principle of Community. We are a community and we all have a role in making our community strong and positive!
Sincerely,
Michelle Walker, Principal

Immediate need for a Breakfast server at Cove The District is in need of one person to work .5 hr in the morning before the school bell – this is a PAID position. Time would be 7:45 - 8:15am. This position is tons of fun, the kiddos are so excited to receive breakfast before school. Contact Nichole Urrea if you are interested or know of anyone (think grandparents) for more information. nurrea@lcmschools.org
Volunteers Needed!! Sign Up Here: Cove Lunch and Recess Volunteers 2022-2023 We have added a slot for K morning recess (this need is secondary to K lunch help!) and a slot for reffing on the big playground. We are going to try bringing 2 touch football back on the field only when we have an adult to ref it.
Birthday Book Program Have a child with an October birthday? Look out for a Birthday Book Program flyer in your child’s backpack this week inviting you to celebrate their birthday with a new book for the library. By making a donation to this much-loved program, your child will get to choose a brand new book - with their name written inside - for all to enjoy at The Cove Library.
Buying from Book Passage? When you buy books from The Book Passage, please mention The Cove School at check out, or in the comments field if ordering online. The school receives a portion of the purchase in the form of a bookstore gift certificate, so we can buy more books for the kids to enjoy in the library!

CoveCares is a new PTO committee that is here to support our Cove families and staff in times of need. Community is a critical part of our school dynamic and CoveCares is now a formal team that helps show we care when families or staff members are struggling with serious life events. Whether it's an illness, death in the family, loss of a job or otherwise, CoveCares is a thoughtful way to show we are here to support our Cove community (eg. flowers, cards, setting up meal trains, connection and resources). If you know of a family who may be grappling with a major life event, please email covecares@covepto.org.
