Cove’s Counseling and Wellness Programs
A Note from our Counselor, Mrs. Scarlett Headley:
Our district wide counseling and wellness programs are 100% supported by SPARK funding. I am ever grateful for the opportunity to be the Cove Counselor. Thank you to all those who graciously donate every year to support our counseling and wellness program district wide.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) is one of our four guiding principles at Cove. We are firm believers that, “In order to cultivate intrinsic motivation and personal growth, we create safe, inclusive, environments that celebrate differences. We are flexible, collaborative and reflective.” Success and challenges will unquestionably happen at school. My role as your school counselor is to help your children learn how to self-regulate, build resiliency, and appropriately solve problems as they arise. Each class is receiving monthly SEL/Mindfulness lessons on a myriad of topics such as: self-regulation, communication skills, problem-solving skills, conflict-resolution skills, positive choice-making skills, self-esteem and diversity.
To learn more about counseling and wellness, please read this Cove Counseling and Wellness Program Description. It includes the specific tools and resources we use throughout the school. I encourage you to ask your students about the Stress Busters or the Toolbox Tools! They are helpful for children and adults alike.
Sincerely,
Scarlett Headley, Cove Counselor
Giving Day Participation Challenge While our year end Annual Giving family participation goal is 100%, our November 15th Giving Day goal is 70%. SPARK has committed to raise $1.5M for this school year to fund 15 teachers and staff offering 14 programs district-wide. Without your financial support, our children would not have access to Visual and Performing Arts, Wellness, Science/Technology and Engineering/Robotics. A pledge or donation in the fall helps SPARK make budget and funding decisions for the following year. If participation or donations are down at that point the Foundation must consider reducing future grants.
Watch the Giving Day Tree Grow Check out where we are here! Thank you to these donors for making their Annual Giving financial contribution so far.
Giving Day Prizes:
When we reach 70% of families donating or pledging by November 15th, every student gets a coupon for frozen yogurt courtesy of Easy Breezy in Town Center Corte Madera.
The K-5 grade level with the highest participation wins a special goody bag for each student chock-full of fun items.
Classes at Neil Cummins and Cove with 100% participation will have an opportunity to win customized hoodies for every student in the class. (Please note: tie-breaker will be based on dollars raised)
Your donation automatically enters you in our raffle drawings! NEW this year - there will be incentive drawings on our way to 70% participation. Prizes include a $100 Nugget gift card at 50%, a $250 Picco gift card at 60% and a grand prize $500 Apple gift card when we reach 70% of families donating or pledging by November 15th.
