This time of year has a pace of its own. Before we know it, we will be into January, wondering where the fall went. During this hectic time, it is important to slow down and give thanks. We all get so busy in our day to day lives that it’s easy to forget to take a moment and express our thanks to those who touch our lives every day.
As we end our Thanksgiving break, I want to express my sincere gratitude for our inspirational staff and teachers and the passion they bring when working with our students every day. I also feel tremendous gratitude for all of our engaged parents who step up to help our school community through their time and resources. What a special community we have! We couldn’t do it without each of you!
Sincerely,
Michelle Walker, Principal
The Turkey Trot was a huge success! Thank you, Coach Arroyo! The energy was palpable as students, teachers and parents cheered on the runners. Students afterward shared how uplifting and energizing it was to run through the cheering crowd. I loved seeing all of the effort that each and every participant invested. I am also grateful for all of the 5th grade leaders who helped run the event. Their kindness and willingness to help in whatever capacity was needed was heartwarming. All of the coyotes made me proud with their effort, support for each other and their spirit! Check out pictures here: Turkey Trot 2022 Google Photo Album.

Board Updates The Board met on November 16 and celebrated CGI math student and teacher successes. A public hearing was held to sunshine initial contract proposals for LCMEA/LCMSD negotiations. Trustees approved a Board authorization for a Math teaching assignment, the Hall Single Plan for Student Achievement, and the Cove and Neil Cummins site Local Control Accountability Plans. CAASPP Part II was presented and discussed, specifically addressing local comparisons and subgroup progress. Additionally, the interdistrict permit subcommittee reported that RUSD and LCMSD were unable to come to a new five-year agreement. All agendas can be found here.
Visitors Must Wear Badges at All Times Safety is our top priority. Mitigation strategies such as ID badges, clearly identify who is permitted to be on campus. All visitors on campus during school hours must check in at the main office (with a photo ID) and obtain a badge. The badge must be worn at all times and be clearly visible. If you are on campus without a badge you will be asked to report to the main office to obtain one. This applies to all adults, even if you are a regular volunteer on campus. This is a very important safety measure and will be helpful in the event of an emergency. Here is our badge/check-in policy. Please know this will be strictly enforced beginning on November 28, 2022. Thanks in advance for your cooperation.
CGI Math Coffee Chat Wondering what that strategy is that your child is using to solve a math problem? Want to learn about the different mathematical strategies students are exposed to in class? Curious about ways that you can support these strategies at home? Well we have a coffee chat aimed to answer those questions! Please join Beth Hawkins, Melanie Harris, and Brett Geithman at Hall Middle School on December 2nd at 8:30 am in Room 405. Parents from all schools are encouraged to participate. Don’t forget to stop by the main office to check in. If you can’t make the chat, we will follow up with a recap video.
