Tinker Day this Wednesday!!
Cove's Annual Tinker Day is this Wednesday, March 22, 2023 from 8:30am-12:00pm. This is a favorite day every year when our school is transformed into a Tinker/Maker Fair with several booths and activities for grades 2-5 students! K and 1st grade classes tinker in their classrooms and do not need volunteers.
Volunteer (Gr 2-5): We need more volunteers for grades 2-5 from 8:30am-12:30pm to make it happen! Can only stay for part of the day? We’d still love to have you help! Email tech@covepto.org, info@covepto.org and cc: Principal Walker if you can help!
Send Tinker Items! Collect cardboard boxes and tape (scotch and electric) and other unique items/ trinkets for our Construction Station as well as any old electronics (all shapes and sizes!) for the Take-Apart Station. Bring materials into the Gallery the day before (Tuesday) and the morning of Tinker Day (Wednesday).
We are very excited to be able to host this exciting day of STEAM!
Sincerely,
Michelle Walker, Principal
Chris and Kristen Slowe, Tinker Day Coordinators
BRAVO! Variety Show Success! What a night!
Thank you to Marina Carlow and Kelly Stone for making the night SO special for our kiddos.
The night would not have happened if it wasn't for them.
There were incredible acts and big smiles on and off the stage. Congratulations to all our performers!
Our Coyotes were treated to Wayne Houchin a science-focused magician to kick off Tinker Day at assembly.

Safe Routes to School has created a new series of Safe Travel Tips that will include important information and reminders for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers. The first one is focused on The Dutch Reach and Avoiding the Door Zone. Please refer to this flyer for instructions on how cyclists should avoid the “door zone” when cycling near parked and stationary cars, and how car drivers and passengers should use the “Dutch Reach” method before exiting a parked car to make sure there is not a quickly approaching bicycle rider.

What will 2023-24 look like in LCMSD? - Video
In the February 27 Newsletter, Dr. Geithman discussed the reductions that were ultimately approved by Board of Trustees on March 8. The majority of reductions will impact the middle school; however, there are some elementary school implications. This video provides a brief summary of the program differences between 2022-23 and 2023-24. Additionally, the slide deck in the video can be found here. We hope you take a moment to watch it.
