Do I automatically belong to the PTO? Yes. Every current Cove parent and caregiver is part of the PTO—there is no separate sign-up process. You are welcome to participate in whatever way works for you.
Is there a membership fee? No. There is no fee to belong to the PTO or attend meetings and events. Donations and volunteering are always optional.
How much are families asked to donate? The suggested annual contribution is $95 per student, but it is only a guide. Please give at the level that feels right for your family. Every contribution helps, whatever the amount.
Is my donation tax-deductible? Yes. Cove PTO is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, and donations are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Our Tax ID is 35-2503277.
Can I volunteer occasionally? Absolutely. Many opportunities involve helping for just an hour, taking one event shift or completing a task behind the scenes. You do not need to make an ongoing commitment for your help to matter.
Do I need to attend PTO meetings? No. Meetings are open to everyone, but attendance is never required. They are a good way to hear updates, share ideas and learn what the PTO is working on. Meetings are usually held on the first Wednesday of each month, from 8:30–9:30am in the Cove Library.
What is the difference between PTO and SPARK? Both organisations support Cove students, but in different ways. Cove PTO funds resources, improvements and experiences specifically for The Cove School, including classroom supplies, enrichment, the garden, community events and campus improvements. SPARK supports staff and programmes across all three LCMSD schools, including art, music, STEM, wellness and counselling.
Who should I contact with an idea or concern? Please email the PTO President at president@covepto.org. Questions, suggestions and new ideas are always welcome. For a school administration or classroom matter, it may be more appropriate to contact the school or your child’s teacher directly.
How do I request reimbursement? Complete the reimbursement form on the PTO Resources page and include all relevant receipts and details. Reimbursements should be for expenses approved in advance on behalf of the PTO. For questions, contact the PTO Treasurer.
How does Cove Cares work? Cove Cares provides thoughtful, discreet support to Cove families and staff during difficult or demanding times.
