HOW STUDENTS LEARN OUTSIDE
The Garden
Every class plants, tends, harvests and observes throughout the year—exploring food systems, seasonal change and the life cycles happening just outside the classroom.
Curriculum Connection
What students study indoors continues outside. A lesson about pollinators, trees or decomposition becomes something they can see, touch and investigate for themselves.
Native Habitat
Our growing native habitat introduces students to coastal California’s plants and wildlife—and what it means to care for a living ecosystem.
Green Team
Through Green Team and Junior Green Team, students take an active role in caring for the campus. They lead recycling and composting, support lunch sorting, organise clean-ups and show their peers how small actions can create lasting change.
HELP THE GARDEN GROW
The garden thrives because Cove families pitch in.
Join a garden workday, help with planting or maintenance, lend a practical skill or simply come along and learn with us. No gardening experience is needed - there is always something useful to do, and everyone is welcome.

LEARNING THAT STICKS
Outdoor learning helps children connect what they study with what they can see, touch and explore.
In the garden, science, writing, maths and environmental stewardship come together in one living classroom. Students learn to notice more closely, ask better questions, work together and understand how their choices affect the world around them.
These experiences do more than teach children about nature—they help them grow into curious, capable and thoughtful members of their community.
